The Energy City Frederikshavn Foundation
In the fall of 2007, a foundation was established to aquire knowledge, insight and ongoing inspiration for the development of new ideas and concepts.
The Board of Directors
Peter Høstgaard-Jensen, the Foundation’s Board Chairman, is a former CEO of Elsam, with more than 30 years experience in the electricity and energy sector.
Erik Sørensen, Mayor of Frederikshavn Municipality, is the Foundation’s vice-chairman.

The Foundation was established by Frederikshavn Municipality and the major stakeholders in the project. Businesses, educational institutions, organisations and individuals can become members of the Foundation and contribute to its work.
The Foundation’s purpose
The Foundation’s aim is to develop:
- a coherent system of renewable energy in the entire Energy City area;
- plants and technologies to operate the system;
- regional and local business structures with new enterprises within renewable energy technology; and
- communication about the system that will increase understanding of renewable energy in Frederikshavn, Denmark and the world.
